TheaxlewasadequatelydesignedtodowhattheTractorwasoriginallydesignedforandthatwastopull.WiththeadditionoftheFrontEndLoaderitbecameapparenttoaxlewasunabletotaketheadditionalstressthatwasplacedonit.Upgradedaxleswereaddedthroughouttheyearstocopewiththisstress.Itwascommonfortheaxletobreakatthesnapringrecess.ThesnapringrecesswasmovedtotheinnersideoftheBigGearwheelwhichbecametheTypeBaxle.TheBigGearwheelwaschangedtosuittheTypeBaxle.ThisbecametheTypeBgearwheel.ThesnapringsarenolongerencasedintheBigGearsoametalringhousingwasfabricatedtoholdthesnapringsinplace.Decidingthiswasn'tenough,theouterbearingseatwasincreasedfrom35mmto40mmwhichnecessitatedthisuseofa6208bearingwitha40mminsidediameterreplacingthe630735mminsidediameterbearing.Threadswereaddedtothewheelbolts.ThisistheTypeCaxle.TypeAandTypeBarenowobsolete.ToreplaceaTypeAaxleyouwillrequireaTypeCaxle,TypeCsnaprings,a6208bearing,aTypeBBigGearWheeland6wheelbolts.ToreplaceaTypeBaxleyouwillrequireaTypeCaxle,TypeCsnaprings,a6208bearingandpossibly6wheelbolts.ThechangesindetailTypeA,theoriginalaxle.16teethx33.9mmdiametersplinewiththesnapringsclosetothewheelboltswhichisontheoutersideofthebiggearwheel.Useda6307outerbearingthatis35mminsidediameteranda6206innerbearingthatis30mminsidediameter.Snaprings5mmwidth.ThesearetypeAsnaprings.Theoutersideofbiggearwheelwasrecessedtotakethesnaprings,thiswastypeAbiggearwheel.Thisaxleisnowobsolete.TypeB.Keptthe16teethx35mmsplinebutmovedthesnapringstotheinnersideofthebiggearwheel,closetotheinnerbearing.Retainedthe6307outerbearingandthe6206innerbearing.Thesnapringswerereducedto3mmwidthandahousingwith40mminsidediameterwasadded.ThesearetypeBsnaprings.TherecessontheoutersideofthebiggearwheelwasremovedandtheinnersideofthebiggearwheelwasmachinedtoacceptthenewstyletypeBsnaprings.ThisisthetypeBbiggearwheel.Thisaxleisnowobsolete.TypeC.KeptthetypeB16teethx35mmsplinewiththesnapringsontheinnersideofthebiggearwheel.Changedthe6307bearingtoa6208bearingwith40mminsidediameter.Retainedthe6206innerbearing.Threadswereaddedforthewheelboltsreplacingthepressintypewheelstuds.Thesnapringsremainat3mmwidthhowevertheoutsidediameterofthesnapringswasincreasedto46mm.Thesnapringhousinginsidediameterwasalsoincreasedtosuit.ThesearetypeCsnaprings.KepttypeBbiggearwheel.TypeD.Changedto19teethx39.8mmsplinewiththesnapringsontheinnersideofthebiggearwheel.Keptthe6208bearingwith40mminsidediameter.Retainedthe6206innerbearing.Thesnapringschangedto54mmdiameterandawasherwasadded.ThesearetypeDsnaprings.ChangedtotypeDbiggearwheelwith19splines.AllthenecessarycomponentsrequiredtoupgradetothecurrentTypeDfrontaxle.Thisisthecurrentconfigurationtoreplaceallpreviousfrontaxles.Kitincludes:1xTypeD19splineaxle254.31F.1111xTypeD19splinebiggear254.31F.1101xTypeDsnapringset1xBearing62081xBearing62061xOilseal1xDustseal1xGasket254.31F.1146xWheelbolts.
